Audio branding, Sound production, Sound design and more…

Mooders is a sound design studio. The name hides a variety of facets, combining creative and artistic know-how with technical services and strategic consulting. Mooders was created ten years ago by Eric MULLER and Maurin ZAHND, based on a shared vision: using music in an original and intelligent way is a powerful amplifier for the impact of a brand message.

The idea was also to contrast a rich offer with a fluid and simple process for our customers: to be able to respond to all sound needs on a project, with a dedicated contact person from start to finish, and a single invoice grouping all services rendered. After that, it’s up to us to deal with the multiplicity of statutes, administrative procedures and legal notions that are sometimes blurred for someone outside our ecosystem.

Our business has changed a lot, and so have the services we offer. So, to give you a clearer picture, here’s a look at our different professions.

Sound production, sound design for advertising

We agree with George Lucas that sound is 50% of the experience. For an advertising film, sound production is crucial. Mooders is a partnership of two musicians: Eric is a guitarist and Maurin is a drummer. They compose and produce most of the music and sound effects for the videos on the site.

Here are the different services offered for sound production:

Composition and production of original music

  • Clearance of existing music
  • Production and recording of sound effects
  • Production of voice-overs at three price levels: in-studio session with physical presence, in-studio session via skype or remote exchange of voice files
  • And of course, mixing and mastering in all formats.

We can work on all these subjects, or just one of them.

Sound identity, the voice of brands

The main aim of creating a global sound identity is to strengthen the emotional bond with a brand, because music is a powerful emotional vector, and by speaking to the public’s subconscious, to leave a strong and lasting memory imprint with customers and employees. The sound identity must embody the brand’s vision and values, define its unique sound vocabulary and homogenize its utterances across its various points of contact with customers. As a long-term project with high strategic value, every project is different and unique.

First comes a phase of pre-creation, consulting and benchmarking, laying the foundations of the sound strategy. This is followed by a creative phase, during which we compose and produce a set of tunes that reflect the brand’s values, adapted to the different media and multiple points of contact. This is followed by a deployment phase, in which all the elements of the sound identity are deployed across all points of contact, for an optimal and homogeneous presence of the brand across all its distribution channels.

Sound design, sound as a strategic tool

Sound design is the way of thinking about and using sound with a specific aim and in a specific context.

For example, to accentuate the immersiveness of a website, to support the pedagogical purpose of a motion design animation, to accentuate the spectacular side of a 3D mapping… The applications are infinite and in perpetual evolution thanks to the multiplication of sound applications (podcasts, virtual and augmented reality, mapping etc…).

For optimal use, it’s essential to listen carefully to the person you’re working with, so as to get an overall view of the project: the stakes, the target audience, the medium… Then, solid experience enables you to make the right choices, in terms of artistic direction, the sounds that will best serve the subject, and the team that will best lead the project. Last but not least, a sound knowledge of music production and a sensitivity to the cross-disciplinary nature of the various professions will guarantee an ambitious, high-quality final sound creation.
