Every year, the Motion Motion festival takes place in Nantes. Organized and supported by a collective of motion designers from Nantes, including Blackmeal and Doze studios, Motion Motion is one of the most important events in motion design.
Featuring conferences, exhibitions, meetings and concerts, the three-day event brings together the very best in French and international motion design, attracting a diverse audience of students, professionals and various motion design enthusiasts.
It was up to us to compose and produce an original track, and its many variations: teaser, trailer, wrapping for the differents moments of the festival: conference announcements, short film competition… The project is inspiring. Moreover, Nōbl, a highly talented motion design studio based in Lyon, is producing the film.
Collaborating with Nōbl means working on beautiful images. We love it. The festival gave us complete carte blanche, so we coordinated with Nōbl to gather their vision of the project, and propose ideas for ” setting ” the overall sound atmosphere.
The intention was quite clear : to inspire, by being surprising, creative and original. Cyril Izarn, from Nōbl, sent us this reference from Gimmick studio. Great reference, in terms of creativity and energy, but it’s a bit repetitive, lacking evolution over time.
We wanted to bring out the warmth, using the voice in such a way as to tickle the listener a little as he listens: we’ll recognize the timbre of a voice, but we’ll try to appeal with different treatments to capture attention. To illustrate movement, the core discipline of motion design, the music is constantly evolving, and embraces many sound elements that are timed to the image, transitions and animations.
